Racism in the shape of clannish skirmishes and communal confrontations in Somalia is one of the obnoxious and detrimental issues that have made it a failed state. The menace of racism, dictatorship, tribalism and other aligned issues have rendered Somalia economically hollow, politically unstable, and volatile in the context of overall conditions. Somalia, a country in the Horn of Africa is wrought with multiplex conflictive issues like dictatorship, clan conflagrations, tribal animosity, and racial altercations. In addition, it will also discuss what enabled and gave a big space to the poets and poetry on the pastoral and livestock herders community. First, the paper will begin with describing the 'oral society' of Somalis and how this has contributed and shaped their life-style and way of communication. Hence, this paper will examine the role of Somali poetry in Somaliland disarmament. In 1994, Somaliland managed to disarm well-organized and powerful militiamen that had been loyal to their clans without external support. Somaliland has achieved stability and some political analysts now describe it as 'a beacon of peace and stability in very turbulent region of Horn of Africa'. Although 'Poems' mainly used to be a sort of communication in rural areas, in modern times it also spread to the urban areas. It is called 'The nation of poets' and Hargeysa, the Capital, is widely known by Somalis as 'The mother of Somali Arts and Culture'.
